A wide misconception about hypnosis is that you are in a state of deep sleep, although it does involve a trance like state of mind you are still in an enhanced state of awareness. Contrary to belief you cannot be hypnotised to do anything you don’t want to do. You are always in control it gives you the empowerment or strength you need to achieve what YOU WANT to do.
Once the deep relaxation stage is reached you concentrate entirely on the hypnotists voice, the therapist is able to suggest ideas or lifestyle changes to you. The seed is planted in the subconscious mind, during this trance like state the conscious mind is supressed allowing the therapist to talk directly to your subconscious mind.
Hypnotherapy aims to help re-programme your minds thinking to help change the behavior of, irrational fears, phobias, negative thoughts and other patterns.
As you become hypnotised your body relaxes, your breathing gets deeper and slower, your pulse rate will drop as will your metabolic rate. The physical body becomes distant as any physical pain or any anxiety melts away. Hypnosis inhibits the conscious minds power whilst awakening the subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind is extremely powerful and in this altered state of awareness deep seated believes, or programmes can be altered.
